Job Purpose:

The Associate works as junior banker within a small team of highly dedicated Investment Banking professionals and focuses on:

• Working on relationships within various Institutions, assisting Bankers in business origination across Citi’s product set 

• Supporting origination of opportunistic mandates and transaction execution

• Developing strong relationships internally with key product partners

Job Background/Context:

The role of the Investment Banker is to provide financial advisory solutions on a wide range of strategic transactions (including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and re-structuring), capital-raising projects and debt financing projects, for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments worldwide.

Our bankers work closely with our other business units to ensure client access to the full range of products and expertise within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

The Associate will support the team in:

• Structuring and executing transactions, including managing deal timetables and deliverables on a day-to-day basis

• Drafting internal and external transaction documentation, incl. new business memoranda, MandD process marketing documents, analyst and investor presentations, etc.

• Coordinating working parties upwards and downwards, across teams and external parties (e.g. client, lawyers, consultants)

• Developing and cultivating client relationships at various levels of management

• Assisting in managing the Investment Banking relationship infrastructure, including approvals and documentation

• Interacting with Citi’s network around the globe to ensure activities are coordinated across the franchise

Collecting and analysing company information to assist with transactions including:

• Conducting fundamental industry research

• Quantitative Analysis

• Reviewing and organising financial data

• Develop and update analyses to support marketing activity, and coordinate with bankers on delivery of project work

• Source and create pitch and marketing material, liaising with product partners and the Bankers

Executing MandA, Capital raising or debt financing mandates on behalf of the client:

• Managing due diligence effort

• Managing the transaction process (organisation of data room, QandA sessions, etc.)

Analysing financial data, using and developing financial models including:

• Stand-alone company valuations

• Discounted cash flow analysis

• Financing, comparative and pro-formal analyses

• Creating and finalising new business developments presentations

• Interacting with clients and various levels of management

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

• 1-3 years’ experience as Investment Banking Associate with relevant experience in the Swiss market

• Specific experience executing Mergers and Acquisitions, Acquisition and Corporate Financing transactions including High Yield debt, Leveraged Loans, Equity, Convertible Bonds, Investment Grade Debt and Investment Grade Loans in both Public and Private markets

• Profound understanding of accounting and finance concepts

• Strong ability to conduct comparative and pro-forma financial analysis

• Strong experience in analysing financial data and financial modelling

• Client coverage / interaction (transactional or coverage related)

Skills:

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills  - financial modelling, assimilating new information quickly and relating it to the needs of the client base

• Organisational - Managing demands from several sources, working to deadlines and managing deal timetables

• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) at all organisational levels

• Excellent attention to detail and clarity

• German as native language and fluency in English, both verbal and written 

• Proactivity -  Identifying situations that could result in new business and developing recommendations tailored to the client

• Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Ability to work efficiently, also under pressure, within a team environment and as an individual contributor

• Ability to efficiently plan and organise own workload within tight deadlines

Qualifications:
